Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Kimber Mfg., Inc., is a leading manufacturer of fine sporting firearms with locations in Alabama and New York. The position of Vice President of Operations plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees operations activities across the organization ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of Kimber while reaching excellent safety and product quality standards. This highly visible position is a central figure in the overall leadership team and a key member of the executive committee. The role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is located in our Troy, Alabama headquarters and main manufacturing facility.

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for directing the strategic and day-to-day functions and activities of plant and functional activities to include, but not limited to: CNC, Assembly, Finishing, Materials management and planning, Purchasing, Plant and Facility Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Services, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•Actively creates and contributes to business leadership in strategy development and operational planning.

•Build, develop and manage an operations team capable of carrying out operations and manufacturing strategies.; ensure that operations activities are strongly aligned with and drives overall organizational objectives

•Establish strong partnering relationships with cross-functional management (Product Engineering, Human Resources, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Quality, Finance, Legal, etc.) understanding the inter-dependencies of business unit plans and functions, anticipates issues, and works collaboratively to resolution

•Provide leadership strong analyses of Operations metrics for effective planning, reporting, and decision making

•Lead the cultural transformation for Kimber to fully integrate a lean team culture focused on employee engagement and continuous improvement.

•Assess organizational capabilities and identifies skill gaps. Actively participates to source, evaluate, select and on-board talent

•Work collaboratively with leaders and employees to cultivate a highly engaging and desirable working environment

•Teach, coach, and mentor employees and leaders acting as a role model for Kimber’s Vison, Mission, and Values.

•Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in a highly regulated industry environment.

•Drive process and systems excellence and promote and lead a culture of continuous improvement.

•Develop and achieve the operations budget

•Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.

•Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

•Deep knowledge and experience in manufacturing operations with a strong preference for CNC machining operations.

•Deep experience leveraging ERP/MRP/Shop Floor Systems to streamline processes and create an environment of continuous improvement (experience with Visual (INFOR) preferred

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•Strong, proven leadership skills.

•Measurable success in partnering with executive team to lead organizational growth and efficiencies

•Adept at managing multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.

•Comfortable communication style that is well received within all levels of the organization and external relationships; presentation skills that are lively and effective

•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

•Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or Operations management or an applicable field of study

•15+ years in progressive leadership roles in the CNC machining and manufacturing industry

Preferred:

•MBA

•Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

•CNC training and background

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and human resources information management systems; ADP HRIS experience preferred.

Some travel may be required for this position.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

This position requires compliance with ITAR requirement. Must be a “U.S. Person” (per ITAR 120.15) and are required to show proof substantiating this upon being hired.
