Job Title: Vice President of Operations

Description of Responsibilities:
- Directs the construction, maintenance, operation and repair of the distribution system and prompt restoration of service following outages.
- Directs the system right of way programs required to control vegetation growth.
- Directs through the Fleet Manager the procurement and maintenance of cooperative vehicles and associated equipment.
- Directs through Managers and Supervisors the coordination and implementation of the safety program for outside employees.
- Directs all operations personnel under the Natural Disaster Plan.
- Coordinates with the Engineering department the administration of contracts for professional services and right of way clearing.
- Directs personnel and equipment and monitors work activities during system outages.
- Directs through the Supervisors and Managers assigned to the Department the budgeting process for personnel, equipment and services required maintaining consistency with the Cooperative’s Strategic Plan.
- Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Develops and maintains good communication and teamwork within the department by holding regular meetings and jointly setting goals for improved productivity and service to members.
- Develops annual work plan for departmental operations, setting goals for improvement in meeting objectives.
- Develops and guides a planned inspection and maintenance program that improves reliability of service and minimizes investment and maintenance expenditures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Requires ten (10) years of electric distribution utility experience plus demonstrated management experience in staff (functional) project management and/or planning, five (5) years’ experience in management.
- Requires knowledge of Operations management, organizational planning, human resource management principles, management accounting and power systems design and practices.
- Must have the ability to develop annual goals and budgets for a division or department.
- Must have complete understanding of long-range planning and strategic planning.
- Leadership skills is a must.
- Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both in the office and field environment. Frequently requires overtime, weekend, and night work. Requires travel.
