Position Summary
The Vice President reports directly to the President and serves as the second in command to the President. The Vice President advises the President in all matters related to leadership, management, logistics, and organizational functions. The Vice President assists in strategic planning and assists the President in leading the College in meeting institutional mission and goals.
Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System salary schedule B+10%.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:
  1. Assists the President with the overall leadership and development of the College.
  2. Assists College Deans in developing and meeting division, departmental, and academic program goals.
  3. Actively engages in College and community activities.
  4. Ensures due diligence and due process in all matters brought to the President.
  5. Oversees development and implementation of strategic planning and assessment of operational performance, including benchmarking against peer and industry standards to ensure continuous improvement in all service areas.
  6. Ensures that all departments/service areas offer excellent customer service to students, employees, and other stakeholders.
  7. Builds trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and confidentiality, even in stressful, contentious situations.
  8. Maintains or increases competency by seeking new knowledge, improving skills, and updating professional competencies.
  9. Ensures compliance with the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), Board of Trustees, and College policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  10. Leads in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and improved services to students and the community.
  11. Demonstrates initiative and hold self and others accountable.
  12. Completes projects as assigned and within established timeline.

  10. Is prompt and punctual in reporting for work, meetings, and office hours.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in education, leadership, administration, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Experience in educational leadership and administration.
  3. Administrative competencies in fiscal management, budget development and coordination, personnel supervision and evaluation, and/or strategic planning.
  4. Experience in managing continuous compliance with state licensing/regulatory agencies, specialty accreditation, and/or institutional accreditation, e.g., Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
  5. Documented evidence of active engagement in professional, academic, and/or community activities.
  6. Demonstrated ability to analyze data to inform decisions.
  7. Ability to work well with diverse populations.
  8. Effective interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and problem solving skills.
  9. Adept in conflict resolution, team building, and promotion of strong, collaborative interpersonal relationships.
  10. Understanding of and commitment to the needs of students, community college mission, diversity, collegiality, and lifelong learning.
  11. Effective planning, organization, multitasking, and evaluation skills.
  12. Ability to perform tasks requiring sound judgment and decision making.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Teaching or administrative experience at the two-year college level.

Coastal Alabama Community College is a multi-campus organization and employees of the College may be assigned to work at any of the College worksites, may be required to travel among various work sites for both day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, and must provide their own mode of transportation.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.
