Position Summary
The Vice President of Marketing & Business Development is responsible for overseeing and driving sales growth of the company within the marketing department. The position oversees the Marketing Representatives, Marketing Coordinator and Agency Relations Educator. This position functions as a liaison for clients; ensures compliance; and provides administrative support where applicable.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for agency distribution, including new agent appointments process including but not limited to the lead generation, pre-qualification, and implementation of new agency appointments.
- Continuous relationship cultivation to develop strategic business partnerships.
- Responsible for talent management of the department, including talent acquisition, recruitment, hiring, onboarding, skill development, performance management, and compensation plans.
- Formulate growth-focused territory strategies for retail agency partners in order to build agent awareness of our products and services.
- Oversee comprehensive digital marketing strategies surrounding streamlined business processes.
- Responsible for company-wide sales meetings, encompassing scheduling, content development, coordination of guest speakers, session moderation, and presentation of sales material.
- Work in conjunction with the appropriate underwriting teams to identify opportunities and develop marketing plans for the territory.
- Effectively manage assigned agents/brokers by developing and maintaining relationships to write and retain accounts.
- Represent Cochrane & Company through traveling 2 weeks per month to various retail agents with a slight alteration during summer and winter months and attending various trade and association conventions.
- Provide training to agents on various online systems and procedures.
- Develop programs and promotions to achieve growth on new business and overall book performance.
- Maintain Customer Relations Management (CRM) and other company database systems.
- Maintain a concern for timeliness, accuracy and completeness when interacting with customers, carriers and colleagues.
- Actively participate in organization initiatives and support core values.

Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of Property and Casualty experience. Surplus lines experience preferred, but not required.
- Available to travel throughout the territory and spending 50+ nights a year in a hotel.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written, with colleagues, managers, and the public.
- Strong problem-solving skills, flexible and work in a team environment.
- Work independently, manage own job functions, and take responsibility for decisions and actions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects, consistently meet deadlines and act with a sense of urgency.
