Vice President, Legal And Assistant General Counsel

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Vice President will join the Des Moines, IA or Hartford, CT based Global Atlantic Individual Market's Legal team and will be involved in a variety of legal matters across the Global Atlantic life insurance companies.  A successful candidate should have extensive experience in life insurance company products, state insurance law, distribution, and operations.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Close involvement with senior business members on product development and risk management for life and annuity products   
• Collaborate with senior business leaders and members of the legal department regarding operational and distribution initiatives 
• Work with internal clients to analyze and resolve service and operational issues 
• Providing legal support to Company departments, including sales, marketing, operations and compliance 
• Build and maintain partnerships with internal stakeholders as well as contacts within the broader Legal & Compliance community across GAFG.   

QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor degree (JD) and 8+ years of experience in the field of law, including financial services/insurance 
• Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrently 
• Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team 
• Advanced knowledge of life and annuity service, operations, and regulatory requirements 
• Capacity to consider, process and filter large amounts of complex information quickly and identify appropriate actions in a fast-paced environment 
• Ability to work across the enterprise and present complex matters to senior business leaders 
• Strong communication skills, work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountability
