JOB SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision of the president, the Vice President will plan, administer, and evaluate the Academic Affairs division. To include supervision and leadership in the activities of personnel as related to instruction, recommends the implementation, continuance, or discontinuance of instructional programs, and approves new curricula and revisions.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Plans, organizes, assigns, and evaluates the division’s work to meet the technical college’s objectives;
  • Supervises requisitions for resources including but not limited to personnel, books, supplies, equipment, and facility needs for the Academic Affairs division and monitoring expenditures;
  • Develops, implements, revises, and reviews procedures as related to Academic Affairs; determining and evaluating costs and benefits of implementation; and assuring full compliance with the Technical College System of Georgia policies and applicable state, federal, and accreditation policies;
  • Supports marketing and recruiting efforts for the College;
  • Plans and organizes the College’s growth and services as relates to the strategic plan, community need, and the Academic Affairs division;
  • Reviews and approves work schedules and requests for leave, training and travel. Submits critical hire requests; provides support for the disciplinary process; acts as a reviewing manager for performance plans and evaluations in accordance with the organizational chart;
  • Recommends the implementation or discontinuance of instructional programs/courses; approves new curricula and revisions; and supports the Technical College System of Georgia Probe process;
  • Supervises instructional programs to include implementation of program standards, instructor performance, and student performance and their evaluation;
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates procedures that allow for the assignment of appropriate credentialed faculty;
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates procedures that allow for and promote articulation between programs within the division, and among other secondary and post-secondary institutions;
  • Maintains and evaluates the Program Advisory Committee process;
  • Monitors and evaluates credit enrollment, retention, graduation, and licensure rates;
  • Provides support for the grade appeals process;
  • Evaluates instruction and revises instructional processes based on evaluation results;
  • Has direct supervisory responsibility over his/her respective area of Southern Regional Technical College, and is responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures are followed within his/her area of responsibility;
  • Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree and three (3) years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a vocational field or occupational supporting discipline or a related field *and* Five (5) years of experience in an adult education environment as an instructor, instructional media specialist, placement specialist, counselor or related professional specialty, with one of the years having been as a classroom instructor
