Job Summary: The VP of Engineering and Technology is a leadership role within GWS and will be responsible for overseeing Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and CNC technology initiatives. This position requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of CNC manufacturing, coupled with strategic vision and strong leadership skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Sets strategic goals for the department.
- Provides constructive timely performance feedback to staff.
- Partners with HR to recruit, interview, train, and hire direct reports.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the strategic technology roadmap aligned with the company's business objectives. Identify emerging technologies and trends to maintain competitive advantage.
- Provide strong leadership to the Engineering, IT, PLM, and Technology teams. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team members to maximize their potential.
- Oversee all engineering activities related to manufacturing processes, including design, development, and optimization of machining processes and equipment. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead IT initiatives to optimize systems and infrastructure supporting manufacturing operations.
- Manage PLM team and oversee systems to streamline product development processes, from concept to production. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve collaboration, version control, and documentation management.
- Develop and manage budgets for technology-related projects and initiatives. Allocate resources effectively to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Cultivate strong relationships with vendors, industry partners, and key stakeholders. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and maximize value for the organization.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements in all technology-related activities. Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across technology functions. Encourage feedback, identify areas for optimization, and implement best practices to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Work with Product Line organization on customer needs/business case for New Technology and Innovation proposals
- Participate in industry meetings/conferences
- Facilitate partnerships with new technology providers, research institutions, and other relevant entities to support the division's long-term research and development roadmap
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering environment, with a focus on technology and engineering management.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, equipment, and Technology trends. Knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure, including ERP, MES, CAD/CAM, and PLM systems is a bonus
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic technology initiatives aligned with business goals.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturing operations is a bonus
- Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement.
