• Strong anesthesia skillset is a requirement of this roll. Entering the on-call rotation after the first 90 days of employment is a requirement of this role.

This position will pay $22-$32 hourly DOE
Welcome to Animal Emergency and Specialty Center (AESC)! We are a 24/7 emergency care veterinary hospital that provides care 365 days a year. Our AESC team is growing and we are looking for motivated, positive and compassionate individuals to join our Surgery Team!
Overall Responsibility: The Surgery Technician supports three board certified surgeons and the related patient care of surgical cases. The surgery team is a dynamic group within an ER and Specialty Hospital that has a busy caseload of elective and emergency procedures. The surgery technicians participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. The Surgery Technician assists with various surgeries including soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and other advanced surgeries.
Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist and Surgeons, administers medication and manages/monitors patients during surgical procedures-including pre and post op care and anesthesia recovery.
• Facilitates patient care of outpatient appointments for surgeons-consults and rechecks.
• Performs IV, IM and SubQ injections, IV catheter placements and advanced Veterinary Technician skills (arterial catheter placement, epidural administration, splint placements).
• Performs radiographs.
• Assists with all types of surgery, anesthesia, and other procedures as needed.
• Participate in surgery team responsibilities that facilitate efficient patient care: setting up and turning over Operating Rooms, preparing exam rooms and instruments, completing daily safety and cleaning duties.
• Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
• Utilizes Ezyvet and Smartflow for documentation of patient care.
• Communicates with clients, including financial estimates and collecting payment.
• Interfaces with and assists other departments within the hospital as needed.
• Other duties as needed.

Educational/Professional Requirements: Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. Veterinary Technician certification preferred. 2 years of Veterinary Technician work experience, including anesthesia experience.
Skill Requirements: Excellent patient care standards and advanced technical skills. Ability to calculate medication dosages. Strong ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication. Handles stress well and keeps a positive attitude. Excels at conflict resolution and superb at problem solving.
Physical Requirements: This job is physically active and requires frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds.
