EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Active CO state CVT license (Or willingness to transfer license to CO)
Preferred: College AS/BS/BA
Preferred: Minimum 2 years critical care experience
Experience: Minimum 3 years ER/ICU experience required*
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our ICU department. Come work at a hospital that is focused on patient care, communication, and education! EVS is a privately owned specialty and emergency hospital with Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Exotics, and Radiology. An ideal candidate will have a focus on gold-standard medicine and patient care, the technical skills to facilitate them, and the desire to learn and grow within their practice. The Veterinary Tech will be mostly responsible for tasks related to intensive patient care within the hospital and will need to complete tasks with exemplary precision and confidence, but will also need knowledge of ER-related tasks such as triage and outpatient care.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Partnering with DVM’s in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates.
Pre and post-operative patient care
Perform all types of restraint, venipuncture for all types of blood work. Administer SQ fluids, medications, etc. per doctors’ orders.
Monitoring and treatments of hospitalized patients
Documenting of medications, procedures and administering treatments of patients while hospitalized
Managing multiple critical/intensive care patients
Excellent and effective multitasking
Have and utilize specialized, high level patient care knowledge
Anesthesia
Performing advanced medical calculations, including setup and administration of multiple CRI’s on a single patient
Advanced animal husbandry
BLS/ALS CPR
Complete estimates, basic record keeping, and update patient charges
GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Comfort and interest working with animals of all types, including exotic species such as snakes, lizards, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, ferrets, and turtles.
