Compensation: $16 - $20
Shifts: Staff schedule is full time, working 4 week days with a rotation of weekends and holidays.
Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 5:30 pm
Rotating Saturday shifts from 8-12
We are currently seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant (non-credentialed veterinary technician) that has at least 2 years of clinical experience. Must be proficient in performing dentals, monitoring anesthesia, IV catheter placement, blood draws. Must have knowledge of radiography and veterinary pharmacology as well as experience with drug calculations and be able to perform metric conversions.
We offer many services at our hospital. We are able to do orthopedic surgeries and have a water treadmill and laser therapy to offer to our patients for rehabilitation. We also offer ultrasound.
Our patients are mostly dogs and cats but we also see goats, pigs and other small farm animals.
We utilize our Veterinary Assistants to the fullest. We are in the process of subscribing to power scheduling to allow our Veterinary Assistants to apply all of their skill set to support our doctors and veterinary technicians.

Responsibilities
Physical demands and work environment
- The Veterinary Assistant must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills.
- The Veterinary Assistant must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
- The Veterinary Assistant is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
- The Veterinary Assistant must be fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
- The Veterinary Assistant must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members
How you'll make an impact:
- Our Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties
- The Veterinary Assistant helps to prepare animals for exams and surgery.
- The Veterinary Assistant aids in performing medical treatments.
- The Veterinary Assistant will perform or prepare laboratory tests.
- The Veterinary Assistant will administer medications under the direction of a Veteirnarian or Veterinary Technician.
- The Veterinary Assistant will obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.)
- The Veterinary Assistant works in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs.
- The Veterinary Assistant handles animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care.
- The Veterinary Assistant maintains a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the animals.
Mission Veterinary Partners just purchased our own accredited Veterinary Technician College and will be offering online classes to our employees for a degree in Veterinary Technology. We will be offering this program to our employees that wish to grow within the field at a significantly reduced financial cost. After completing the program, you will be able to sit for the VTNE and become a Licensed/Registered/Certified Veterinary Technician.
