Form of workThe Design Coordinator Phase 2 manages and coordinates the Released For Construction (RFC) packages for tunnel interior structures, ventilation buildings, systems and finishes, liaising with the construction teams in order to ensure constructability and incorporate any required changes via post-RFC design; RFIs and FDCs within the Design Services During Construction (DSDC) scope of work, always in compliance with Technical Requirements of the contract (TR’s) and Construction Specifications (CS’s).
Essential Duties:
- Manage design packages assigned under the supervision of Design Manager
- Coordinate with designer to update packages based on proposed changes or modifications.
- Prepare and coordinate design submittals and support construction submittals
- Ensure compliance with TR’s and CS’s.
- Ensure design is approved and ready for the construction teams timely, to eliminate any construction delay.
- Attend and coordinate technical meetings as required.
- Attend coordination meetings with different JV departments to agree on schedule and deliverables.
- Liaise with temporary designers as required.
- Cost control for tasks/packages assigned
- Visit construction site for inspections or construction discussions.
- Degree in Engineering with at least 3-5 years of experience in similar positions
- Experience with civil construction
- Knowledge of construction standards (VDOT, AASHTO, ACI)
- Knowledge of construction methods.
- Advanced level of Autocad (3D is a plus)
- Advanced level of Microsoft (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
