POSITION SUMMARY
The Veterinary Technology (VT) Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Program Director. Responsibilities include coordination, instruction, and evaluation. Assists in all clinical and lab activities as well as supervising all Clinical faculty members. Assists with acquiring clinical sites and managing student skill acquisition and assessment. Provides medical duties to the program including medical and surgical treatment, diagnosis of disease and functions as the veterinarian on-site during clinical exercises.
RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES:
Actively solicits and secures clinical affiliations with institutions
Work closely with the Career Services department in the placement of Vet Tech graduates
Coordinates clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Program Director
Evaluates and ensures clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular visits to the clinical affiliate/clinical education centers
Teaches assigned Vet Tech courses in a Term or Terms in accordance with established Platt College approved curriculum and course outlines
Determines students' clinical rotations and ensures that students can complete all assigned competencies during a clinical rotation
Participates in the development, implementation, assessment, and dialogue of student learning outcomes established at the program and course level
Maintains necessary attendance, scholastic and student records, and submits them according to published guidelines
Effectively teaches and communicates with students of diverse backgrounds.
Participates in professional development, advisory board meetings, student and other educational activities in accordance with college policy
Participates in the evaluation, revision and development of curriculum and instructional methods
Participates as assigned in various campus activities and duties.
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of four years of prior work experience in the field
DVM or VMD from an AVMA accredited institution
Work experience should include several years of practice and experience in management
Overtime as requested by supervisor – may include: evenings, weekends and holidays
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree from an DVM accredited program;
Licensed Vet
CVT/LVT/RVT
Minimum of 3 years field experience
