Work Arrangement
Onsite - This position will require the employee to be onsite full-time. The work location will be primarily based at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. Local travel to various GM facilities and supplier sites in Metro Detroit will be a consistent aspect of the role.
The Role
The Verification and Testing Systems group thrives on developing, deploying, and inventing new technology within Global Propulsion manufacturing process. Along with working on GM’s most advanced technology, the group has the luxury of working across multiple technology facilities within the Global Propulsion Center.
General Purpose of Position is to support the execution of the Global Propulsion Testing Development Process from AFI through SORP (cradle to grave) on High Volume Battery Pack and Module Testing. Collaboratively work with a multi-functional team of engineers to refine the electrical and leak test processes and then lead in the execution of the tooling procurement, installation, debug, start up and launch in the assembly plant(s).
In addition to the primary focus of supporting high volume battery plant test equipment, this role will also actively support the GPS build events at GM labs, pre-production facilities and assembly plants, such as the Pontiac Electric Motor Lab, Warren Battery Systems Lab (BSL), Test Battery Operations (TBO) and the Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant through development of the electrical and leak test processes, tooling, equipment and complementing quality planning tools, and support for problem solving activities.
What You'll Do
- Lead & support procurement, design, installation, and launch of prototype and production battery electrical and leak test tooling for manufacturing end of line test
- Partner with product and manufacturing engineering teams to develop testing protocols and critical build verification criteria in a production/lab environment and develop statement of requirements for testing equipment
- Work with equipment supplier in the design, assembly and buy-off of a production-capable system.
- Collaborate with plant and installation team in installation, debug and buy-off of equipment in the plant and document/resolve issues found during build events
- Track lessons learned and communicate across multiple global manufacturing sites
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 3+ years of professional engineering experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing end of line Testing Systems, data acquisition, and data analysis of production components
- Professional experience developing test controls and documentation
- Working knowledge of machine and product controls architecture, and experience interacting with, and interpreting product and equipment drawings.
- Bachelor Science in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

- Battery electrical test experience
- Leak test experience
- Professional testing experience in the following areas: Transmission/Engine Test, Power Inverter, Electric Motor Systems, and/or Fuel Cell.
