As our Vascular Interventional Specialist Program (VISP) Support Technician at Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center, you will support the operations of the VISP program by performing patient scheduling and registration, obtaining authorizations, and providing patient care under the direction of the VISP providers.
Every day, your main tasks will include scheduling appointments and procedures, registering patients, obtaining authorizations from insurance companies, and coordinating with other departments to ensure timely and efficient patient care. You will also provide patient care and assistance during procedures under the direction of the VISP providers.
To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be proficient in using electronic medical records systems, and have a high level of attention to detail. Prior experience in a healthcare setting or medical office is preferred. You must also have a strong ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and other members of the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.

- Collects complete and accurate insurance information. Verifies insurance eligibility and contacts insurance companies for prior authorizations, as needed. Sends supporting documentation as requested.
- Contacts patient and communicates co-pay responsibility and assists with payment arrangements if necessary. Coordinates contact for financial assistance when needed.
- Obtains authorizations for VISP procedures in a timely manner,
- Ensures orders and additional paperwork for testing and procedure scheduling is accurately prepared and sent to the appropriate department.
- Prepares the necessary documents to ensure accurate billing for consultations and procedures.
Completion of an approved or accredited medical assistant training program that satisfies CAAHEP, ABHES or Department of Education guidelines or meets the exception criteria outlined by the state of Arizona OR two years of patient care experience supporting healthcare providers in a clinic or hospital setting.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certification
- Ability to take patient's vital statistics and assist with medical examinations and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial and medical insurance information.
- Ability to effectively capture information and accurately enter the data into software applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology or successful completion of medical terminology course (in YRMC LMS system) within six months of hire.
Experience assisting physicians with outpatient procedures preferred
One year medical office receptionist admitting authorization or scheduling experience in a healthcare setting preferred Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred; Cerner strongly preferred
Collections experience preferred
