Brunswick County Government is currently accepting applications for a Utilities Administrative Officerto join our Public Utility Department. Working under limited supervision, theAdministrative Officerwill be responsible for directing and coordinating business operations for the Utilities Department. The Administrative Officer will work in coordination with members of the Utilities Leadership Team to facilitate the administration of all Utilities contracts and legal/financial documents between Public Utilities, vendors, and County management. Work includes:
- Preparing, analyzing, and negotiating contracts and purchase orders.
- Tracking contracts and purchase orders through their lifecycles.
- Performing administrative and supervisory work.
- Overseeing the purchasing and warehouse functions of the Utility, including supervising staff engaged in Utilities Operations.
- Performing difficult and skilled financial, accounting, and procurement tasks.
- Maintaining complex and detailed files and records, reports, documents, and correspondence.
This position is considered essential under County policies and will be required to perform work before, during, and/or after emergency/disaster situations. Must be available to work when needed and be flexible during budget and audit season when there may be a need to work for extended periods of time.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, business management, or a related field AND five (5) years of related work experience; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
A valid NC or SC driver license is also required.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or public administration (MPA).
- Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) certification, and/or
- Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) certification, and/or
- Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) certification.
- Utility rate setting certification.
- Experience within a government setting.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.Employment Type: Full Time
