Urine Specimen Collector

Urine Specimen Collector Opportunity:

Principle Health Systems is hiring a Urine Specimen Collector for a busy Pain Management Practice located in the Baytown, TX area. This position will collect a high volume of Urine Specimens (150+/month) and support the group with specimen collection for laboratory testing of patients (Principle Laboratory).

Previous medical experience as a Specimen Collector or Medical Assistant is a plus!

• Full-time, permanent role
• Pay: Hourly based on experience and tenure
• Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm; Friday Half days 8:00am-12:00pm

Urine Specimen Collector Essential Job Functions:

• Provide instruction to patients on how to provide Urine Specimens.
• Proper labeling of specimens, completion of requisitions and all other needed information.
• Prepare specimens and requisition forms, including packaging of the specimens into biohazard bags for shipping.
• Responsible for ensuring samples are shipped to lab in the appropriate amount of time and supporting records/manifests are maintained.
• Obtain billing information, including copies of patient insurance cards and demographic information.
• Ensuring the accurate completion of requisitions forms and assisting with all missing information requests when needed.
• Confirming reports are generated by laboratory for specimens processed and facilitating inquiries to laboratory.
• Thorough knowledge of all processes and will act as liaison between clinic and laboratory.

Urine Specimen Collector Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Previous experience in Medical Assisting or Specimen Collection is preferred
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
• Candidates should be patient focused, pleasant and work independently with little direction.

Urine Specimen Collector Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
