Mobile Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant Specimen Collector

Job Description: Cabot Lab is seeking Mobile Phlebotomists/Medical Assistant Specimen Collectors who are experienced, professional, and compassionate towards patients. You will play a crucial role in facilitating the patient specimen collection process, collecting patient specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our specimen collection process. You will be responsible for collecting, handling, and transporting/shipping biological specimens from various locations to our laboratory, adhering to strict protocols and maintaining the highest standards of quality control.

Responsibilities:

• Administering nasopharyngeal swabs or oropharyngeal swabs for Respiratory Pathogen Panel testing (including testing for Covid-19).
• Collect urine and other specimens following established protocols, ensuring proper labeling for patient samples and documentation.
• Instruct patients on the collection process and provide necessary containers.
• Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
• Greet patients warmly, explain specimen collection procedures, and address any concerns.
• Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring patients' comfort and well-being during the collection process.
• Process and prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper storage and transportation/Shipping.
• Follow safety protocols, infection control measures, and relevant regulations to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records.
• Accurately document patient information, obtain patient acknowledgement, collection details, and test requisitions for all collected specimens.
• Serve as an intermediary between the practice / clinic and the laboratory.
• Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies regarding specimen collection and transportation.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of collection equipment and vehicles.
• Provide assistance and support to laboratory personnel as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in clinical laboratory or related work environment preferred.
• Previous experience in Medical Assisting or Specimen Collection is preferred.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
• Candidates should be patient, focused, pleasant, and work independently with little direction.
• Compassion and a patient-centric approach.
• Proficiency with MS Office Word and Excel.
• Strong typing and data entry skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable handling biological materials and following safety protocols.

Experience:

• Laboratory experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• 6+ months of experience as a Specimen Collector, directly supporting patients is preferred.
