The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The person in this position will provide excellent customer service at the Circulation Desk on weekdays; and most importantly, opening/closing the library building and providing customer service on every Saturday the library is open. This position’s primary responsibility is providing customer service at the Circulation Desk, including circulating library materials using the library’s integrated library system software (Sierra); responding to patron inquiries in person, by telephone, and via email; and interpreting and enforcing library policies. This position shares in the processing of the ABC Express delivery service. As the primary Saturday circulation staff member, the person in this position is responsible for monitoring building conditions and the safety of library patrons, enforcing library behavior policies, opening the library building in the morning, and closing and securing the library building at the end of the business day. This position helps in the supervision of student workers, assists in stacks maintenance tasks, assists and instructs patrons in the use of public equipment such as scanners and microfilm readers, supports other Access Services functions as necessary, and participates in special projects as assigned.
Hours for this position are 7am – 3:30pm Tuesday through Friday, 10am-6:30pm on Saturdays, with occasional evening or night hours as needed according to University and Library schedules.
Applies basic knowledge of circulation desk policies and procedures to the everyday work of staffing the circulation desk. Must have strong commitment to customer service, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to accurately and independently follow established procedures in performing work requiring considerable detail. Uses specialized library applications to circulate materials to library users and may perform one or more specialized tasks using such software based on departmental needs. May assist users with use of library technology, including scanners, printers, computers, microfilm readers, and web-based information systems. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
