The Finance and Business (F&B) Department provides business, fiscal, and budget management for the Libraries. This includes closely monitoring the Libraries’ annual budget and overseeing the library’s accounting activities. In addition to these broad responsibilities, the department handles travel (authorizations and reimbursements), PCard purchasing and reconciling, other procurement activities, contracts, pre- and post-grant awards, and Marketplace orders as well as many other financial functions.
As the Libraries Accounting Technician you will be responsible for monitoring and managing several accounts within the Libraries’ $40M budget. In this role your primary purpose is to perform advanced technical accounting work for NC State University Libraries.
The Libraries Accounting Technician will be independently responsible for financial transactions across a variety of programmatic areas, including travel, PCard expenses, service unit billing, and interdepartmental transactions.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage financial transactions across various areas, including travel and PCard expenses, service unit billing, and interdepartmental transactions.
- Proactively identify and resolve complex financial issues through research and analysis.
- Serve as the main travel administrator, processing travel authorizations and reimbursements.
- Reconcile University Purchase Cards (PCards), process purchase requisitions, and manage orders through NC State’s Marketplace.
- Assist new vendors with registration in PeopleSoft Financials and navigate NC State’s Marketplace for purchasing needs.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the efficiency of the Libraries department through proactive financial management.

Minimum Experience/Education:High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
