Prior experience as Unit Clerk in healthcare setting required.
The Unit Clerk is an integral part the team and is responsible for:
Medical records and organizational duties on the unit. The Unit clerk adheres to standards, protocols, policies and procedures addressing work rules, service quality, job performance, communications, teamwork, behavior, safety and resident rights. The unit Clerk works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and/or Team Leader.
As a Unit clerk you will:
- Assembly and Analysis of HCC medical records
- Answer telephone in a courteous and professional manner and communicates message(s) to appropriate personnel
- Interact and communicates with residents, visitors, staff and physicians in a courteous and professional manner
- Refer inquires, related to resident status, to appropriate nursing staff
- Prepare medical record for new admissions. Greets new admissions
- Assist with admission, transfer, or discharge of residents by compiling and/or faxing necessary data. Calls for emergency help/transport as directed
- Check fax machines for lab reports
- Schedule resident appointments and arranges transportation as needed
- Order supplies and maintains par levels of nursing and clerical supplies
- Maintain updated forms on Nurse Station
- File lab results, therapy papers, consults, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned
