What you can expect as an Underwriter/Production Underwriter:

In this role you will research prospective companies, analyze risk exposure, construct and price tailored solutions, and help communicate the unique value of our offerings.

Depending on your qualifications and interests, the position may be titled a Production Underwriter, which entails additional sales responsibilities.

About the Underwriter Role:

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk analysis of applicant companies using proprietary RPX models, application details, and publicly available information
• Document research, summarize findings, and propose solutions to RPX management
• Answer technical product questions, provide in-depth explanations of risk analyses, and identify talking points that support sales and marketing efforts
• Stay informed about trends in technology and patent litigation

About the Production Underwriter Role:

In addition to the above:

• Manage a portfolio of clients and/or new business prospects, identifying opportunities for growth.
• Collaborate on prospect identification, broker relationship development, and other sales activities.

About You:

• Strong analytical skills and an ability to process large amounts of data from a variety of sources
• Skilled at condensing complex information into clear insights and recommendations
• Confident personality supported by logical thinking, good judgment, and well-documented conclusions
• Ability to independently balance priorities and meet deadlines
• Dedicated, disciplined, and eager to tackle new challenges
• Adaptable and collaborative work style
• Excellent oral and written communications skills; for Production Underwriter, ability to lead calls and communicate effectively with brokers, clients, and prospects.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field
• Master's degree viewed favorably
• 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, risk management, intellectual property, insurance, or similar
• 2+ years of experience in account management preferably within insurance (for Production Underwriter role)
• For the Production Underwriter role, a Property and Casualty insurance broker’s license is required (either at the time of hire or within the first 60 days of employment)

In compliance with CA Pay Transparency, the RPX target budgeted salary for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 depending on skills and experience and the RPX base salary range is $80,000 to $130,000. In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus opportunity and comprehensive benefits and perks, including group health coverage, company HSA contribution, 401(k) matching, medical disability and family leave benefits, fitness reimbursement, community service days, charitable donation matching, and more, as well as the option to work remotely or from our beautiful San Francisco office.
