A Multi-Office Law Firm, a prestigious boutique law firm located in New York City, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Trusts and Estates Associate to join our team. We are seeking a Trusts and Estates Associate with 3-6 years of relevant experience to contribute to our thriving practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in trusts and estates law, with demonstrated expertise in estate planning, trust administration, and related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with an LLM (Master of Laws) in Taxation or Estates and Trusts.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with partners and senior associates to advise clients on a wide range of trusts and estates matters, including estate planning, trust creation and administration, wealth preservation, and tax planning strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support client matters, staying abreast of developments in trusts and estates law and tax legislation.
- Assist with probate and estate administration proceedings, including estate inventory, asset valuation, distribution planning, and fiduciary accounting.
- Provide strategic guidance to high-net-worth individuals, families, and fiduciaries on complex estate planning techniques, asset protection strategies, and charitable planning initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service and tailored solutions to meet clients' unique needs and objectives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Juris Doctorate
- Required Licensure: Certified by the NY & NJ Bar Associations
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- 3-6 years of experience practicing trusts and estates law, preferably in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
- Solid understanding of federal and state tax laws, trust principles, and estate planning strategies.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
