Join our team of clinical professionals! We are in search of an experienced MA (certified) to join our Triage Nursing Phone Team. This position is based out of our main office and supports the surrounding medical offices. Our busy atmosphere provides the opportunity for our patients to sense our commitment and dedication to serving them and how we positively impact the quality of care they receive. Your primary duties will include, but is not limited to the following:
- Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients. Gathers pertinent health data through assessments via telephone communication. Dispositions patient information using sound clinical judgement. Provides proper assessment, prioritization, and referral to the appropriate level of care. Recognizes patient’s abnormalities or urgent problems and seeks appropriate assistance; responds appropriately to emergency codes.
- Documents assessments, interventions, patient responses, and medication dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records.
- Promotes wellness by providing patient education, communicating physician advice/instructions.
- Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor. Communicates information to other members of health care team. Documents patient telephone calls and patient complaints.
Experience
- Minimum three years MA experience; endocrinology clinic experience preferred.
- Experience using computer system, software, mouse, keyboard, and intranet.
Other Requirements
- Type 45 wpm.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with healthcare systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards.
- Skill in reading and following written and oral medical orders.
- Skill in initiating appropriate emergency procedures.
Advance skills in triage by phone and computer usage. Ability to sit for most of the shift and effectively manage stress triggered by workload and difficult patients.
