Join our Pediatric Cardiology Practice with this exciting opportunity as a Triage Nurse!
ResponsibilitiesThe Triage Nurse will be part of a care coordination team supporting general care processes alongside the providers. Manages nurse-directed patient telephone calls Evaluates and assesses patient's health care needs based on patient's signs and symptoms. Obtains appropriate input and direction from the provider as needed to determine the bestclinical course of action and recommendations for specific patient health care needs. Accurately documents in electronic health record (EHR), symptoms/complaints, nursing assessment, advice provided, patient/caller response, and follow-up. Manage prescription refills per protocol. Coordinate Stat and follow-up appointments on the provider schedules with scheduling staff. Provide patient education: e.g., acute disease, symptom management. Must have knowledge of disease processes, normal growth and development of all age groups. Must operate with cultural sensitivity with respect to working with persons and groups of diverse racial, ethnic, economic and social backgrounds Perform other nursing duties as assigned by Nurse Manager. Initiate BLS measures on decompensated patients in clinic. Monitor patients requiring escalated care in clinic.
QualificationsSkills: Nursing assessment skills with/without visual inspection utilizing basic nursing theory. Critical clinical thinking skills required. General computer skills required. Experience with EHR systems. Excellent communication skills, i.e., listening, oral and written English skills while conversing with patients, families, health professionals and community agencies
Demonstrated clinical competence. Capacity to function independently within licensed scope of practice. Must have the ability to handle stressful emergency situations calmly and effectively
