Job Summary
The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing services to patients in a variety of healthcare settings. The Registered Nurse, or RN, is responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.

Licensure
Current and unencumbered license in the state of practice.

  • The physical demands are representative of those that may be required by an employee to successfully perform the representative duties and responsibilities of the job.   • The employee must be able to perform CPR; lift at least 30 pounds; walk up and down the stairs; position patients; walk long distances; and stand for prolonged periods.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities for Registered Nurse/Licensed Practice Nurse
  • Complies with ATC Healthcare Services policies and procedures.
  • Provides general care services, including assessment, analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Assess healthcare needs of patients through a variety of routine assessments, and develops, implements and evaluates individualized nursing and health care plans accordingly.
  • Perform health screenings of patients or clients. Registered Nurse, or RN, is responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities.
  • Respond to emergency healthcare needs of patients.
  • Collect and records data specific to health status of patients or clients.
  • Administer medications/treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners.
  • Instructs patients in treatment methods prescribed by medical practitioners/interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Provides health care instruction and education to individuals and others relating to the promotion of health and prevention or management of illness, disease, injury or disabilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility and staff in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP:
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 years to be comfortable working on this unit, as it can be challenging for less experience.
Traveler Experience: YES (But should have experience in large/ high volume similar setting).
Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: Yes
Skills: Circulate, Sterile vaginal exam and competent in immediate newborn care
Certs: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate and NRP
JOB DETAILS:
RATIOS: 2:1, average 20 births in 24hrs and 30-40 admits, 40 Visits/Day, 20 Rooms
SHIFT: *36 hours can be offered.
• Cannot have holidays must be on a team.
• Cannot request days off week of Christmas.
• Any extension now will have to extend through 1/20
12 HR NIGHTS
May be required to precept/orient new staff members to the unit as needed
Float Requirement: *FLOAT REQUIRED AS NEEDED. Special Maternity Care high risk OB unit.
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
PATIENT DIAGNOSES: Obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum and for high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. We care for under 16 weeks high risk patients too on our high risk maternity unit. The Birthing Care Unit has an obstetrical triage unit to allow for screening of patients prior to admission and to perform routine outpatient procedures such as antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration. Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean Births and rescue cervical cerclage are performed.
SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: **Unit VERY FAST PACED, busier and higher acuity than might be normally expected. May not be realistic for nurses to take 48hr contracts on this unit due to how busy it is. Strongly prefer RN with circulate to OR experience.
