Concrete Paving Laborer - Traveling

Summary

At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of Concrete Paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.

We are currently seeking Traveling Concrete Paving Laborers that will continuously travel between our projects in Richmond (Virginia), Charlotte (North Carolina), Nashville (Tennessee), Raleigh, North Carolina, and future locations to help execute our slip-form Concrete Paving operations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and prepare construction and paving areas.
• Pour concrete and assist with concrete finishing.
• Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and concrete.
• Read plans, instructions, and specifications to execute work.
• Load, unload, or identify construction materials, machinery, and tools.
• Distribute materials to the appropriate job site locations, according to project plans or specifications.
• Use hand and power tools, as necessary, to complete tasks.
• Direct vehicle traffic and signal equipment operators, as needed.
• Operate equipment such as backhoes, skid steer loaders, and any other equipment an employee is able to operate.
• Communicate effectively with other laborers, machine operators, and site management.
• Observe safe work practices and all safety protocols and instructions.
• Other tasks and duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• Construction-site labor experience, preferred.
• Heavy or highway construction experience, preferred.
• Physical capabilities required are climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
• Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time.
• For Skilled Labor: 3+ years (journeyman) experience in your trade (please specify your trade/status on your application), required.
