Position Summary: Responsible for directing activities and team members of the Truck & Trailer and Tank Wagon divisions while ensuring safety, efficiency, and profitability.Supporting Tyree's Mission Statement and Key Customer Requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct, supervise and coach professional drivers and dispatchers, ensuring all operations are carried out in compliance with company safety standards and customer-mandated procedures.
- Oversees fleet maintenance and provides support to fuel fleet operations.
- Prepares regular weekly and monthly maintenance reports and parts usage for management appraisal as required.
- Coordinates outside fleet repairs, may identify and place orders for repair/replacement parts for vehicles and equipment in Portland.
- Communicate with Director of Transportation on issues related to the safe and efficient operation of vehicles, facilities, and customer locations.
- Responsible for tracking, obtaining and maintaining truck licensing, registrations and permits.
- Work with Dispatch Software, ELD software and ERP system.
- Fill in for dispatch as needed.
- Coordinate scheduling with the Transportation Manager to ensure professional drivers are compliant with all certifications and appropriately carded at loading terminals.
- Manage routing and inventory software applications to ensure proper routing and inventory levels at branches and customer locations.
- Maintain healthy working relationships with sales to ensure all aspects of fleet operations meet company standards.
- Actively identify and communicate industry best practices and opportunities for improvement to management.
- Responsible for receiving and scheduling after-hours (nights and weekends) fuel orders.
- Promotes safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending leading company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
- Collaborate with other managers or staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, or objectives.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of fleet drivers as required.
- Conduct employee training sessions on subjects such as hazardous material handling, employee orientation, quality improvement, or computer use.
- Manage training process of Driver Trainers and Driver Trainees to successful completion of training program.
- Stays current on changes to and maintains a library of federal, state, and local transportation and environmental regulations (SME).
Work Schedule:
5 Days Per week. Therewill be night and weekend work required but variable depending on need.
May be required to travel to/from Tyree Oil locations; Travelis primarily local during thebusiness day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum Experience: One year or more of leadership/supervision experience. Two years supervisory experience of commercial drivers preferred.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimumqualifications and core Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
