Description:
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the transportation services department and coordinate the monitoring and scheduling of partner school transportation and internal District staff transportation needs related to travel to events, meetings and workshops.
Essential Functions:
  1. Coordinate transportation for students of Tulsa Technology Center daily for all sending schools, private schools, and home schools and all of District campus locations to include determining stops and routes, providing information to the public on routes and schedules; scheduling equipment and personnel, investigating problems and complaints.
  2. Plan and facilitate staff development, in-service meetings, and training of transportation operations employees; Assist in planning of appropriate staff levels supporting optimal transportation operations and direct supervision of transportation staff. Coordinate with Marketing, Student Services, campus leadership and other program departments to provide accurate and timely transportation information to students and families.
  3. Develop and implement transportation metrics and measurements to assure proper performance of operations' staff including bus drivers, route supervisors' and additional drivers across the district.
  4. Manage the cost-effective use of district resources including personnel, fuel, and equipment, implement new cost reduction and asset productivity strategies.
  5. Schedule carpool assignments for CTSO events and district staff; handling reservations, maintaining assignment calendar, communicating with users of District vehicles as needed.
  6. Maintain bus driver compliance with the State Department of Education. Maintain current licenses and other state required policies. Implement federal and state laws, State board of education, and Tulsa Technology board of education's policies.
  7. Maintain roster for drug and alcohol random testing program (CDL licensed individuals), communicating as needed with program administrator and covered employees.
  8. Prepare and distribute annual transportation contracts: maintain annual transportation contracts and related records; keep contracts current.
  9. Create, monitor, and promptly close out work orders for vehicle maintenance and repairs for transportation department. Follow up on completed maintenance to ensure proper repair and expenditure amounts; maintain an accurate vehicle status board; initiate vehicle replacement activities, including numbering, insurance cards, tagging, and long-term assignments.
  10. Manage the day-to-day operations of the transportation department for Tulsa Technology center. Serve as a key liaison in maintaining good rapport with students, parents, campuses and communities to optimize services and resolve conflicts. Provide bus and van driving services (vehicle and driver) in the District as needed. Coordinate with local lease agents and sending schools to maintain capacity to obtain additional buses, trucks, and cars for peak demand periods.
  11. Work with vehicle insurance carriers in maintaining accurate vehicle and driver records; assist in accident reporting and follow up as necessary.
  12. Provide transportation for pickup and delivery of vehicles, parts and paperwork as needed. Maintain an accurate key inventory for all District vehicles.
  13. Exercise reasonable care and demonstrate a proper concern for protecting District property and the welfare of self and others by obeying all safety rules and practices; operate motor vehicles and other power equipment in full compliance with safety requirements, both stated rules and any unstated but generally accepted safe practices.
  14. Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the workgroup or worksite.

Job Requirements:
  • This position requires a minimum of three Years' experience in the transportation field as a route coordinator, dispatcher or related position. Experience in school transportation is preferred.
  • State of Oklahoma Class B Driver's License with passenger endorsement, school bus endorsement, air brake endorsement with State Department of Education Transportation Division Certification is required.
  • Bilingual is a plus

Hiring Range:
Dependent on experience, plus additional $7,200 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
