This position has daily interaction with the following internal departments at Nice-Pak Products: Corporate Sales, Finance, Production Scheduling, Inventory Control, Distribution and Warehouse, Customer Service, Quality, Contract Manufacturing, and Procurement. This position also interacts with the following external entities: Nice-Pak transportation providers, collect customer transportation providers (i.e.: Target, Walmart, BJs), raw material suppliers, and contracted outside warehouses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Process and route outbound customer orders according to the published route guide for Nice Pak as well as customer route guides for carrier selection, transportation mode, and delivery expectations.
- Identify errors and lead time inefficiencies created by other departments impacting service to customers and cost per case.
- Schedule all outbound shipments of finished goods and branch transfers in conjunction with Warehouse and Distribution policies pertaining to mode and trailer type.
- Access multiple online Customer Portals for routing instructions and order confirmation.
- Daily monitoring of the Warehouse and Distribution outbound load schedules to insure service and trailer type compliance.
- Maintain positive working relationships while building a network of transportation and warehouse providers.
- Monitor current transportation market trends and significant events impacting service to customers which may result in rerouting freight or a change in provider.
- Review of established trailer and route allocations with recommendations to Associate Director of Logistics for necessary revisions based on volume.
- Process and route inbound chemical deliveries to both the Jonesboro AR and Mooresville IN sites. (Required: DOT Hazardous Material Certification)
- Analyze order quantities to maximize payload and reduce cost per case with feedback provided to Customer Service, Sales, and Customer Chargeback for identified areas of improvement.
- Identifying areas of potential cost savings regarding routing and load consolidation with analysis provided to Corporate Sales and Customer Service.
- Daily interaction with Customer Service regarding transportation delays in transit, inventory shortages causing payload reduction, and quality holds preventing shipment.
- Investigate requests from transportation providers for detention by validating the arrival and departure times, mitigating the expense, then creating an authorization code for payment.
- Request and negotiate spot market transportation rates from transportation suppliers for Procurement, Customer Service, and Sales.
- Routing and selection of transportation provider for all returned material, branch transfers, and inbound raw materials with creation of documents for transport.
- Research invoice exceptions provided by the Associate Director of Logistics and the freight payment auditor with follow up to the transportation provider.
- Accountable for carrier and mode compliance as well as OTIF impacting budgetary and service goals which are reported to Executive Leadership weekly.
- Must remain current on all route guides for every customer assigned and execute based on the requirements to prevent chargebacks/fines received from customers for up to 18 months.
- Investigate fines and provide detailed documentation to Manager, Customer Support/Chargebacks to reduce our liability with customers.
- Inventory reconciliation of all Costco items at the ten Safety Stock Warehouses across the US and Canada.
- Creation and routing of Costco Safety Stock branch transfers from both the Jonesboro AR and Plainfield IN sites.
- Create onsite rework requests for Costco material stored in Safety Stock Warehouses or route the return of damaged product to either Jonesboro AR or Plainfield IN.
- Manage the diversion of shipments and the creation of replenishment for Costco orders delayed in transit to Costco Depots.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Associate or bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication.
• Capable of performing math functions such as calculating square footage, cost per case, and total gross weight.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook. Advanced Excel skills including the creation of formulas, macros, and use of functions required.
• Must have working knowledge of the transportation industry regarding legal weight limits, operating authorities for US and Canada, and an understanding of the required documents for shipping (i.e.: bill of lading and Canadian Customs invoice).
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Two years of experience in a transportation position with a manufacturer, transportation/logistics provider, or an asset-based transportation company. Customer Service experience would be beneficial.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment while also being self-directed with minimal supervision.
