Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Negotiate with vendors/suppliers to acquire the best products at the best price, with special focus on the purchase of Raw Materials for regular production and for special Projects with Sales and R&D, which have a critical impact in the final cost of the product.
  • Develop and recommend purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Place purchase orders according to company procedure.
  • Following the POs status and ensure and monitoring the POs Open in a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all relevant information on fulfillment and delivery planning is maintained in company database. Maintain PR’s information in MS Teams.
  • Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes and/or cancellations.
  • Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
  • Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
  • Locate suppliers, using sources such as catalogs and the internet, and interview them to gather information about products to be ordered.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of finished goods through accurate purchasing/sourcing methods.
  • Manage Rail deliveries and contact suppliers to coordinate Raw Material deliveries in a daily basis.
  • Provide strong customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor.
  • Work with sales to understand agreements with customers to optimize procurement sourcing and implement the adequate sourcing strategies while minimizing risk.
  • Locate, evaluate, qualify, develop, and maintain a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs and control entity wide risk.
  • Assist in sourcing partners and alliances for the development of industrial and commercial products for both existing and new product.
  • Work with Corporate Supply Chain team in the implementation of global strategies within the supply chain.
  • Work closely with cross departmental teams such as planning, R&D and logistics to provide efficient and effective options to internal customers.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Responsible for changes to the purchasing system, including PO’s and price changes.
  • Utilize the LN ERP system and PC software to develop, maintain and generate effective reporting systems that relate to the job function.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper authorization is obtained on requisition, purchase orders and contracts.
  • Provides basis data for preparing environmental reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring MSDS’s are received and properly files for all purchased goods.
  • Review and adjust material and supply inventories to needed production levels and lead-times.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Possesses related process and parts experience and is competent in the operation of spreadsheet and word processing programs. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Accuracy and organizational skills are required. Good math aptitude and detail oriented. Ability to operate computer for data input and retrieval.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
