Business Development Analyst
The Business Development Analyst is responsible for performing analysis (strategic, operational, and financial) and modeling (cost, financial, and price) for Business Development projects in the transit industry.
The Analyst will be a member of the bid pricing team (3) in the Business Development department, supporting the financial development of bid proposals to operate & maintain public transit systems (bus and rail) in North America.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 1-3 years of professional experience is desired.
- Experience in financial analysis is required.
- Cost modeling, financial modeling and performing data analysis is desired.
- Strong Excel skills including experience writing and/or interpreting complex excel formulas is required.
- Experience with PowerPoint presentations is required; experience presenting to senior management is a plus.
- Transit or transportation experience is a plus.
Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Organized, diligent; strong attention to detail is key.
- Desire to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter; proactive; ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines.
- Comfortable presenting to senior leadership.

Key Accountabilities:
Analysis & Modeling:
- Perform cost and financial modeling using approved Excel-based models.
- Ensure models are accurate, complete, validated by the appropriate subject matter experts (SME), and approved by the bid pricing manager.
- Collect and analyze information such as operational data and key performance indicators (KPI).
- Interpret financial statements to identify key cost drivers and areas of risk.
- Prepare benchmarking comparisons to challenge assumptions.
Business Processes:
- Support and lead project work, including new bids, contract renewals, and ad-hoc projects.
- Coordinate with other Business Development team members to ensure consistency between the financial and technical proposals and the timely delivery of proposal / bid deliverables.
- Collaborate with other departments / stakeholders including operations, maintenance, human resources, and subcontractors to determine key bid inputs and assumptions.
- Thoroughly review project information such as request for proposals (RFPs), scope of work (SOW), draft contracts, collective bargaining agreements (CBA), and relevant data (operational, maintenance, service).
Strategy & Governance:
- Prepare and present presentations, including to members of senior leadership such as department heads and executive management.
- Identify and document all project risks; perform risk analysis to measure financial impacts if applicable; recommend mitigation solutions when appropriate.
- Complete and adhere to standard processes accurately and in compliance with department guidelines.
