Summary
About the Position: Position is located at United States Southern Command Exercises and Coalition Affairs Directorate Training and Exercises Division.
This is a TERM position NTE 5 years, May be Made Permanent.

Duties
  • Responsible for the design and development of training materials for relevant courses.
  • Responsible for staff leadership, management, direction, coordination, and oversight and control of the training support programs within Command
  • Provides policy and procedural guidance to Command, its Service Components and other agencies in areas such as training support coordination, master scheduling, and training evaluation systems.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training.
  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers' specific needs to maintain or improve job skills and performance.
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This is a drug testing position. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Army employees who accept a time-limited appointment (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended.
  • May be required to work overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience in the design and development of training materials for relevant courses. 2) Experience in providing policy and procedural guidance to Command, its Service Components and other agencies in areas such as training support coordination, master scheduling, and training evaluation systems. 3) oversee a Learning Management System and development of training materials. And 4) Experience analyzing, evaluating, planning, and coordinating complex projects which directly affect operations of the Training Division, Command, and individual training programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12) grade level.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE 5 years by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or change to lower grades may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
  • Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 5 years, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years.
  • May be eligible for Situational Telework Only, including emergency and OPM prescribed, Unscheduled Telework as determined by the hiring organization.

How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
