Job Summary
The Training Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of Training Unit. In consultation with other team members, decide what combination of trainings is appropriate for staff, community, delivers services, which may include individual and group facilitation. Additional responsibilities include coordinating training events schedule to ensure conformance with standards set by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Indian Health Services (IHS), and Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate a training calendar, which meets CARF and AHCCS requirements, develop policies, procedures, provider, program needs, and use assessment tools to demonstrate training effectiveness.
- Conduct new employee orientation for PYCSP.
- Interact effectively with all components of service delivery system, including Family Violence Intervention Program, HIV/AIDS Prevention Program, Alternative Medicine Program, Massage Therapist etc.
- Conduct Trainings or arrange for outside trainings
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff and subcontractor agencies as necessary
- Provide ongoing training on how to enter and maintain clinical information and clinical notes into an electronic charting system, in accordance with the Center Spirit Employee Handbook.
- Create training reports and meet any reporting deliverables related to training

- Collect and report on client data as required by the Director of Behavioral Health.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Behavioral science and forensic principles pertaining to counseling and substance abuse including- identification, evaluation, counseling, rehabilitation, education, prevention and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) or day treatment;
- Relias training software
- The treatment of dual diagnosis disorders and treatment strategies applicable laws and regulations concerning substance abuse and treatment;
- State and federal Laws on Substance Abuse Treatment and confidentiality;
- Methadone maintenance treatment and practice;
- Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
- Interpret, follow policies, and procedures;
- Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
- Track documentation requirements, and required documents up to date;
- Effectively train a group of behavioral health professionals, technicians and/or paraprofessionals;
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other public agencies, and people from various socioeconomic backgrounds;
- Maintain confidentiality of information;
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. ?Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
Education, Certifications and Experience Required
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Communication, Education, Nursing or related field. Candidate does not need to be a licensed clinician, but clinicians are encouraged to apply.
AND
- Experience in conducting educational/training workshops.
- Experience in developing training curriculum.
- Successful work history with Indian populations and or other ethnic groups preferred
Special Requirements
- Must be competent in using computers and able to learn to use new software.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
- Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination from this position.
