This teaching role incorporates two part-time positions that create a full-time position. The position of Elementary Language Arts (ELA) and Reading Pathways Teacher works alongside classroom teachers to identify students with a need for accommodations and small group instruction in Reading and all areas of Language Arts. The teacher will perform the assigned ELA and Reading Pathways 4th -5th grade teacher responsibilities in an efficient and Godly manner. The Pathways program at SCA strives to empower all students to achieve their unique God-given strengths and talents by creating a program of advocacy, specialized instruction, and intervention specific to the needs of each child.
The position of Elementary Coordinator works alongside the Elementary Principal to ensure the effective implementation of curriculum policies in the school. This position coordinates the consistency and alignment across grade levels in areas such as: gradebook policies and categories, classroom centers and technology, field trips, special days, parent events, scheduling volunteers, handwriting, math facts, phonics, and homework, late work, and testing policies.
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about Christian education and is called to work with youth, desiring them to grow in their understanding of subject matter with a biblical perspective. Beyond preparing lessons and grading assignments, this applicant will also take on routine responsibilities common to all SCA teaching staff. Our teachers are responsible for fulfilling the mission of Scottsdale Christian by equipping minds through engaging, innovative instruction and nurturing hearts by mentoring young people as a spiritual leader and role model. This teacher will report directly to the Elementary Principal.

Responsibilities:
- Provide small group instruction for groups of 4th - 5th graders using multisensory instruction in the areas of ELA and Reading lessons to support primary homeroom teachers.
- Provide small group lessons as the primary ELA and Reading teacher for grades 4-5 using multisensory instruction and differentiation.
- Manage a caseload of elementary Pathways students. Ensure that accommodations are appropriate and are being utilized, and regularly monitor academic and/or behavioral progress. Act as an advocate for the student and a liaison between classroom teachers and parents.
- Offer ongoing assessments including the administration, scoring, dissemination, and any necessary explanation of the results to the student?s homeroom teacher and his/her parents/guardians.
- Reassess individual students in the fall and throughout the year as deemed necessary.
- Provide ongoing consultation with the homeroom teacher regarding identified students as well as other students and ideas to use in the classroom.
- Create the Accommodative Educational Plan (AEP) used to implement accommodations in the classroom.
- Provide a support system for discussing concerns with parents.
- Train classroom teachers on STAR, Dibles, or other testing measures and manage the databases.
- Communicate with our assigned District Public School Team for educational evaluations of students. This includes coordinating meetings and testing dates, preparing the necessary paperwork, and communicating with the participants.
- Coordinate testing and services throughout our assigned District Public School when necessary.
- Assist students before and after school as needed.
- Promote student engagement to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student.
- Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom as well as instruction while monitoring and managing students? behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules.
- Teach classes assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Administrator/Principal.
- Meet weekly and work with homeroom teachers to coordinate lesson plans, newsletter, and calendar.
- Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.
- Establish and adjust course syllabi outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals.
- Cultivate teamwork in both vertical and horizontal grade level teams.
- Coordinate consistency in grade level alignment and curriculum policies.
- Gather and analyze curriculum and instructional data and then formulate and execute a plan of improvement.
- Oversee the achievement of grade level goals.
