The Topside Design Engineer is responsible for providing recommendations to VTHM on PSC topside arrangement and layout. Guidance will be in alignment with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Instruction (NAVSEAINST) 9700.2 series, Integrated Topside Safety and Certification Program for Surface Ships.
The Topside Design Engineer is a multidisciplinary role that provides platform arrangement evaluations.
The Topside Design Engineer will work closely with the E3 Engineer, given the propensity for topside arrangements to impact collocated systems from an E3 perspective.
Additionally, the Topside Design Engineer can confer with Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Code B53, the designated Engineering Agent for the NAVSEA Integrated Topside Design Technical Warrant Holder. The E3 Engineer and the Topside Design Engineer will function as a liaison for VTHM during EMCAB events.
