Position: Engineer/Designer, Mechanical
Location: Fort Monroe, (Hampton), VA
Job Status: Full‐time immediate long-term opportunity
Summary: Experienced Engineer/Designer in NAVY mechanical Ship Alteration work.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Shipcheck, design, develop drawings in AutoCAD, check and review drawings. Interpret and apply technical correspondence, specifications and manuals.
· Draft technical correspondence.
· Survey and document conditions on-board NAVY ships to facilitate complete and accurate SID development.
· Clear and precise writing and communication of problems and solutions.
· Communicate information and changes to multi discipline program to ensure composite Ship Alteration drawing package.
Education: Mechanical Engineering degree is a plus but not required with 10 years relevant experience.
Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience. US Navy or shipyard related experience required. HVAC design experience is a plus. Must have demonstrated excellence in writing and communication skills. AutoCAD skills required.
Licenses/Certifications: Describe any.
Ships and Shipyards: Ability and interest to work on ships and in shipyards for approximately 10% of the time.
Travel: Must be willing to travel approximately 5% to 10% of the time. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Clearance: Ability to obtain SECRET security clearance
