Job Title: Tool & Diemaker Apprentice Current Issue Date: 1/08/2024 Operation: Howmet Aerospace - Tempcraft Operations Previous Issue Date: 2/06/2022 Reports To: TBC Manufacturing Supervisor Job Grade: 4 (Hourly)

Job Summary

Howmet Aerospace has an immediate opening for a Tool & Die Maker Apprentice at our Engines Products - Cleveland Operations Tempcraft facility located at 3960 S. Marginal Rd. in Cleveland. This position is a minimum of four-year training program to become a Tool Maker. At the end of the training, the Tool Maker Apprentice will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and fine-tuning injection molds and learning how to perform advanced specialty operations.

Howmet Engines is a world-class producer of aero engine and industrial gas turbine components, including airfoils, rings, disks and forgings. We excel in vacuum melted superalloys, machining, performance coatings and hot isostatic pressing for high performance parts that enable the next generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient aero engines and cleaner power generation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acquire the following skills through a structured four-year apprenticeship format that includes a combination of On-The-Job Training (OJT) and Related Instruction.
  • Complete 8000 Apprenticeship Hours, 600 of which to be completed at the Community College in Manufacturing Machine Technology
  • Perform specialty operations as requested by Tool & Diemaker and tool management
  • Perform EDM, Bridgeport, grinding, polishing, etc.
  • Help fine-tune molds based on feedback from Tool & Diemaker
  • Repair molds based on feedback from Tool & Diemaker
  • Change mold versions
  • Perform 5S Housekeeping, keep machine centers and personal tools orderly
  • Notify supervisor or manager of any materials or tools required
  • Participate in corrective / preventive action reviews (assist production in troubleshooting)

Job Specifications

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 1-year manufacturing / industrial experience, or successful completion of an accredited machine trade curriculum(ex. Polaris Vocational School or Cuyahoga Community College machining certificate, etc..) or 4 semesters of training and basic manual machine training(ex. Davis High School, Auburn Career Center, etc.)

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
