Job Description

Job Purpose

The Tooling Technician responsibility is to always work in a safe manor.  It is also the Tooling Technician responsibility to build tools that are safe and to exceed the customer’s expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Tooling Tech will need to build tools with the direction of the tooling supervisor.
• Must report any issue or if information needed to complete jobs to tooling supervisor immediately.
• Must build tools to SPA standards and according to customer specs.
• Must work well with others
• Each tool will be checked by the tooling supervisor referencing the check off sheet at the end of every job it is the tooling techs responsibility to fully complete the build prior to the check to minimize any rework on the tool.
• Knowledge of epoxies
• Carry out manual tool changes on all manufacturing tools in line with production schedules
• Complete repairs and modification of manufacturing tools
• Complete a job ticket at the end of every shift and submit as well as completing E-Time prior to leaving each day.
• Produce all tools with cost effective means in mind and to exceed customer’s expectations.
• Maintain Safe working habits
• Ability and willingness to learn and grow with the company
• Good housekeeping is essential to maintain a clean work area and return unused tools back to their proper place.
• Properly label parts or models supplied to SPA for fixture builds with the name of the part / program name or mold, date, customer name and Job number.
• Willingness to cross train, to be versatile in the company
• Work in a fast-paced environment

Working conditions

Manufacturing setting where there are low to moderate noise levels, dust and smoke. Duties may require the occasional use of/contact with/exposure to various hazardous materials (such as, but not limited to grease, oils, lubricants, paint, thinner, parts cleaner, etc.). Employees should have basic awareness of hazardous materials cautions. Those directly using the materials must have specific knowledge of material in use.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception. May at times be required to bend, twist and work under machinery or at heights using lift equipment and or ladders.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Basic wood working skills.
• Basic welding skills on tig and mig. (Aluminum and Steel)
• Basic machining skills including Bridgeport and lath.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatics.
• Basic knowledge of working with composite materials.
• Ability to read prints.
• Ability to travel with no limitation within and out of the country.
• Must have proper tools to execute all tasks.
• Must be able to operate forklift
