Growing Manufacturing firm in the Ft Wayne, Indiana area has a need for a Plastics/Process Engineer. This is a direct hire role with a full benefits package than can be done remotely.
- Work together with other engineers, process techs, tool makers and quality techs.
- Manage details of new projects including customer communication.
- Perform both part and tooling design work.
- Troubleshoot molding issues and suggest tooling or process changes.
- Manage project schedules. Communicate with internal and external customers.
- Interface with sales staff and customers to promote product development.
- Respond to tooling and part RFQ’s in partnership with sales staff.
- Review customers’ part designs for feasibility and work with customers on design for manufacturing.
- Provide material expertise and offer recommendations internally and to customers.
- Oversee and participate in R & D projects.
- Ensure strong internal quality compliance.
- Provide manufacturing support.
- Create and foster a culture of continuous improvement and maximum efficiency.
- Travel as necessary to work with customers, attend trade shows and trainings, and see products in application.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics & Polymers Engineering, or Related Field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing and tooling design.
- Experience in design for manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of plastic and polymer materials.
- Strong experience with SolidWorks design software.
- Familiarity with quality systems, i.e. ISO, PPAPs, FMEA.
