Job Responsibilities:
Responsibility & Customer-Focused:
* Troubleshoot tooling problems and equipment mechanical issues
* Maintain records, track and order tool-room and project supplies for all tooling activities
* Will assist engineers or outside vendors in the installation of new or revised processes, equipment or work stations
* Builds fixtures and assembly equipment according to prints
* Casts holding nests
* Make new or repair jigs and fixtures
* Coordinates the heat treating of the tooling, jigs and fixtures utilizing approved outside sources
* Perform any necessary operations within the group to ensure timely repair, installation and changeovers of tooling
* Responsible to follow and carry out corporate procedures, policies, guidelines, legal requirements, and etc.
* Capable of machining, constructing, and/or fabricating fixtures, details, prototypes, or workstations with or without detailed prints.
* Must have the ability to troubleshoot mechanical or functional issues with fixtures or workstations, repair, or effectively communicate to maintenance the issue in order to resolve the problem.
* Must be able to operate or use all necessary equipment or tools: forklift, stand-up lift, chain hoist, machine tools, and measurement devices.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Degree or equivalent experience:
* High School diploma or GED
Years of experience:
* 2-3 years of experience
Certifications in:
* Tool and Die Making Certificate (Preferred)
Knowledge in:
* All plant equipment related to metal stamping
Skills in:
* Ability to work and manage others
Demonstrated ability to:
* Safely and proficiently set up, program, and operate all tool room machine tools: CNC milling machine, lathe, band saw, surface grinder, press brake, and drill press
* Proficiently use all necessary measurement devices: caliper, micrometer, gage blocks, depth gages, dial indicators, and thread gages.
* Use TIG and spot welders as necessary
* Machine details
* Install and plumb mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical devices
* Dress and route cables and air lines in work bench frames
* To interact with all levels of employees
* Able to multi-task
Experience with:
* Making models from prototypes and samples from drawings or blueprints
* Making layouts and calculating die clearances and tonnages
Other:
Must be proficient in use of a personal computer and data entry
