Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Schedule the daily activities of the department in order to meet customer demands while providing a safe environment for employees.
- Schedules and coordinates all activities within the department.
- Recommends die modifications.
- Ensures quality standards are met and maintained by continually communicating with the Quality and Production departments.
- Participates in ongoing Continuous Improvement processes.
- Ensures requisition orders required for tooling and replacement parts are completed in a timely manner.
- Keeps current on all new processes.
- Visits customer locations to view site and use of parts and provides recommendations on processes if appropriate.
- Implements any engineering changes based on customer requirements accurately and efficiently.
- Provides required training to employees for job-specific activities/responsibilities.
- Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program. Ensures all tools are properly fit for use.
- Provides coaching and counseling to direct reports and conducts timely performance appraisals, as required, for both salary and hourly employees.
- Any other reasonable request made by management.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years on-the-job experience
- Previous supervisory experience an asset
- Ability to work with Statistical Process Controls
- Strong knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001 requirements
- Familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act and company policies and procedures
- Skills (language, technical, computer etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to prioritize work in order to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Basic computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Strong people-management skills to lead, direct and coach employees
- Mathematical and mechanical aptitude
