QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of the local community and the various services available to the families of Title I eligible students; knowledge of familiarity with a minority culture.
Must possess the skill to translate and interpret foreign language whenever necessary to accomplish required duties. Establish and maintain records of activities, home visits, and meetings; prepares necessary reports. Coordinate and refers Title I students to community health and welfare services, as well as private organizations that can assist students in receiving necessary services; provides transportation related to health and welfare services to Title I students as required. Must assist school personnel in communicating with and instructing Title I students as necessary; confers with teacher(s) regarding possible tutoring and other special needs of participating students. Work with Title I students to enhance academic performance and extra-curricular participation. Perform routine clerical duties including typing, copying, filing, and related duties as assigned.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing in English and Spanish (must pass the District's bilingual certification test in oral, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish); ability to translate basic documents from English to Spanish, and vice versa by passing the District's translation test; familiarity with a minority culture; knowledge of the local community and the various services available to the families of Title I eligible students.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Successful experience and knowledge in working with Title I groups. Completion of twelfth grade is required, preferably supplemented by college level courses.
CERTIFICATION OF DISTRICT PROFICIENCY IN THE AREAS OF BASIC READING, WRITING AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED. ONE OF THE FOLLOWIN MAY BE SUBMITTED IN PLACE OF THE DISTRICT PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE:
- DIPLOMA FROM A PUBLIC CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL AFTER JANUARY 1, 1981

- PROOF OF SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE CBEST TEST
- POSSESSION OF A VALID CALIFORNIA TEACHING CREDENTIAL
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO SBMIT A COPY OF DRIVING RECORD ISSUED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES.
DUTIES OF POSITION: To assist the certificated teacher who coordinates the Title I Program in identifying and recruiting eligible Title I children into the program. Employees in this job classification receive direct to general supervision from a certificated teacher and/or school site administrator within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures. Under supervision employees serve as a liaison and communications link between the home, school, and community regarding policies and guidelines of the Title I Program.
STARTING SALARY: $3,035.84 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 10 (to begin August 9, 2023)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours to be 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
