Position Summary:
The Tissue Culture Technician will produce pest-and pathogen-free plants according to established Tissue Culture standard operating procedures. These plants will form the “genetic inventory” of all Fluresh strains and be used for producing production plants through cloning. The TC Tech will work in the Grand Rapids Tissue Culture Laboratory and the mother room(s) under supervision by the Director of Tissue Culture and the Cultivation Manager. Traveling to our Adrian Location will be periodically required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare culture vessels
- Wash and autoclave culture vessels
- Label all vessels accurately
- Prepare culture media
- Calculate, weigh, mix ingredients and adjust pH
- Autoclave media and distribute in sterile environment
- Prepare tissue, start and maintain cultures
- Cut tissue explants
- Sterilize and plant explants on sterile culture media
- Transplant to rooting conditions
- Monitor cultures for contamination and growth
- Documentation
- Maintain laboratory records of each Tissue Culture batch
- Work with METRC department staff to maintain compliance
- Mother Room
- Transplant rooted Tissue Culture plantlets
- Maintain mother plants in cooperation with cultivation staff
- Preventative pest control in the laboratory and mother room
- General Laboratory Tasks
- Keep the laboratory organized and clean
- Keep track of supplies
- Maintain equipment as needed
- All other duties as assigned
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Work diligently with attention to detail
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks reliably
- Ability to follow manuals and instructions accurately
- Basic laboratory experience
- Interest in plant biology
- Being well organized
- A combination of the above shall also be considered.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
