Position Overview:
As a Team Member, your primary responsibility is to contribute to the efficient operation of the Thrift Store by performing various tasks related to customer service, merchandising, and maintaining store cleanliness. You will play a crucial role in supporting the store's mission and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating items within the store.
- Provide information about store policies, promotions, and ongoing sales.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and returns in a professional and friendly manner.
2. Merchandising:
- Sort, tag, stage, research and price items in accordance with store guidelines.
- Organize merchandise on shelves and racks to maintain an attractive and organized store layout.
3. Cash Handling:
- Operate cash registers accurately and handle cash transactions.
- Process customer payments, issue receipts, and provide correct change.
- Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies.
4. Store Maintenance:
- Keep the store clean, neat, and well-organized at all times.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
5. Promotions and Sales:
- Participate in store promotions and sales events to maximize revenue.
- Engage customers in upselling or cross-selling opportunities when appropriate.
6. Adherence to Policies:
- Follow established store policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
- Maintain a positive and respectful working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
- Basic math skills for cash handling.
- Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
