YOUTH PASTOR
Role Description (Part-time)
Purpose and General Role Description
Narara Valley Baptist Church is looking for a godly, gifted and enthusiastic disciple-maker to join our
pastoral team and help lead our established and growing ministry to youth! The Youth Pastor is a part-
time role (3days/wk) with the purpose to reach, disciple and care for teenagers in line with our church’s
vision.
The Youth Pastor will lead, support and oversee our amazing team of volunteers and our established
programs. Currently we see around 90 highschoolers attend our Friday Night ‘The Valley Youth’
program each week, many of who are connected into the broader life of our church and many who are
yet to make a decision to follow Jesus. The Youth Pastor will also be empowered to shape fruitful
discipleship ministry to youth into the future, to pursue greater outreach opportunities into our
community and to champion the inclusion and integration of youth into our church life.
While this position is focused primarily on youth ministry, there is opportunity to include broader
ministry responsibilities within the life of our church as the person has the gifts, passion and capacity
for (such as: young adult ministry, preaching, worship and/or evening service ministry).
Who are we?
Narara Valley Baptist Church (NVBC) was birthed in the heart of a small group of passionate believers
who had a vision to reach ‘The Valley’ and the broader Central Coast with the Gospel, for the glory of
God. Since our inception in 1978, we have witnessed an amazing work of God’s grace in the lives of
thousands of men, women and children, as we desire to be disciples of Jesus who are ‘Desperate for
God, Passionate for People’.
Currently, NVBC is a church of approximately 400 people, with 42% of the church having joined in the
last 5 years! We have established, thriving ministries to children and youth, two growing Sunday
Services, many healthy connections, a good reputation among our local community, and a history of
being a sending church. We are filled with faith for what God will continue to do in and through us in the
years to come.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Youth Pastor position include, but are not limited to:
- Join with the pastoral team to set the overall vision, strategy and direction of NVBC, as we
- Lead implementation of the vision for NVBC within our youth ministry
- Lead and oversee youth ministry programs, including resourcing and support of lay leaders
- Developing, implementing and oversight of pastoral care systems, discipleship strategies and
- Oversee engagement with local high schools and other relevant community organisation
- Ongoing recruiting and equipping a team of volunteers for youth ministry that disciples leaders
- Oversee a healthy and engaging online presence for youth
- Create a safe environment for youth, families and volunteers by incorporating all necessary Safe
- Work together with the staff team to ensure the integration of new youth and families at NVBC
- Other duties that may arise in discussion with the Senior Pastor
Requirements for the Role:
- Be a committed, mature and growing disciple of Jesus
- Possess a heart for youth and a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities that
- Demonstrated ability to connect, care for and relate well to youth and their families
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, support and encourage a team of volunteers
- Experience and ability to communicate effectively to youth from a variety of backgrounds
- Strong Biblical understanding and ability to think theologically when writing, choosing and
- A servant leader, with a humble, teachable, and collaborative nature
- Theology aligned with NVBC’s mission, vision and values
- Has completed or be willing to complete theological training at a diploma level or higher
- Holds a current Working With Children Check clearance and ability to adhere to all Safe Church,
- Is an Australian resident
Role Expectations
This is a part-time position. Workdays in a typical week include Sunday and it is expected that the Youth
Pastor will be present at our Sunday services and Friday Night Youth group, as well as other key church
gatherings in coordination with the Senior Pastor. It is strongly preferred that the Youth Pastor will work
Mondays in the Church Office in order to be present at Pastors and Staff Team meetings. Given the
nature of the role, the Youth Pastor is sometimes required to work outside normal office hours and
therefore flexible work arrangements are supported.
Renumeration
Renumeration will be in line with the recommendations of Baptist Association of NSW and ACT.
