(Student Services Professional II)
Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,841 - $5,083 per month
Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,841 - $6,884 per month
  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Services for Students with Disabilities, this position provides coordination and oversight of legally mandated academic accommodations of the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) for students with disabilities, both on campus and at distance learning sites.
Such services and activities may include providing information and guidance to students; evaluating student needs and authorizing services; coordinating and administering, events, and projects; advocating the needs of students and providing support and assistance to students facing a variety of personal as well as institutional problems, questions and challenges.
It also includes oversight of accommodations for standardized tests offered on the campus. As the position is responsible for the handling and administration of classroom examinations with integrity and confidentiality on a daily basis, it requires the incumbent to function at a high level of reliability, judgment and discretion. It requires direct communication with the student with disabilities and faculty to provide accommodations. In addition, the Testing Accommodations Specialist will support the Lead Interpreter and Communications Coordinator for the provision of interpreting and real time captioning services for students and other campus programs by request.
Key Qualifications
  • Ability to learn, interpret, apply and clearly communicate disability related procedures, policies, information, ideas and instructions to students.
  • Coordinate large volume of academic test accommodations with accuracy, efficiency and confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize and plan for efficient handling of work and projects that involve multiple priorities.
  • Ability to relate skillfully and respectfully to diverse students with varying disabilities, faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, campus and community individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships within the SSD office.

Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field and two years of related student services experience.
      • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
      • A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
