In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing basic Test Hardware to facilitate factory testing of Garmin products in a team-oriented environment under supervision of management and/or a mentor.

We are seeking a full-time Test Hardware Design Engineer 1 in our Salem, Oregon location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing basic Test Hardware to facilitate factory testing of Garmin products in a team-oriented environment under supervision of management and/or a mentor.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with Design, Software, and Test Software Engineers to define test requirements and procedures that will be used to confirm that newly produced and in development Garmin products meet minimum performance standards
- Design test circuits and develop/document Test Hardware in accordance with Garmin's Test Hardware development methodology and standards in order to test the performance and functionality of newly developed products
- Perform basic schematic design and PCB layout
- Complete basic troubleshooting and debugging of electronic test circuits and/or systems
- Design test boards and circuit modifications to thoroughly test designs
- Test circuits designed by other engineers and document the test results
- Partner with more experienced Test Hardware Design Engineers to effectively complete test projects
- Communicate status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor or mentor
- Apply design test standards and procedures to implement basic test designs
- Support production associates in introducing new Test Hardware and equipment to production teams
- Perform maintenance and support activities for Test Hardware already in use in accordance with Garmin's hardware change management process
- Work closely with factory, Test Software Engineers, and Design Engineers to fix factory Test Hardware problems quickly and effectively
- Learn how to use/apply relevant engineering tools
- Integrate, use, and provide test feedback on products in development when possible
- Thoroughly document work in an organized manner and identify/resolve defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools/techniques
- May be responsible for planning own technical work
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Engineering (BSCE) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Must possess basic knowledge and/or experience with test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing, and documentation
- Demonstrates ability to use general EE troubleshooting tools (ex. oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc.)
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented and a multi-tasker and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision
