The duties of the Test Engineer position at Electric Boat Cape Canaveral includes but is not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain SWS/SWSS Columbia instructor lead curriculum.
- Operate and Maintain the Columbia SWSS and associated supporting SIM/STIM equipment’s
- Provide operational technical assistance to the Lead Ship construction/test teams as required.
- Properly document failures/issues/trends within the Columbia SWSS systems to be submitted/reviewed by EB engineering.
- Take photographs to support any on-going issues.
- Support instructor training for the SWSS Familiarization courses.
- Lead troubleshooting & repair efforts encountered with the Columbia SWSS to include Lead Ship support.
- Provide technical review of Columbia operational, maintenance and test procedures.
- Conduct initial proofing of Columbia SWSS tactical procedures, operating instructions, and maintenance procedures as well as supporting efforts required for SWS documentation.
Required:
- High School Diploma
- Proficient knowledge of SSBN Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS) and associated subsystems and documentation.
- Experience with the Strategic Weapons System(SWS) and Strategic Weapons Support Subsystems(SWSS) to include unique Columbia delta’s.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
- Familiarity with NAVSEA and/or SSP processes and procedures.
- Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of SSBN Strategic Weapons Systems Weapons Systems (SWS) requirements/specifications applicable to training and documentation curriculum development.
- Proficient knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical systems including corrective maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proficient knowledge/experience in one or more of the elements of curriculum and documentation development
- Subject matter expert (SME) in curricula and documentation development and developing proficient knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields
- 4-10 years of related professional experience in or equivalent experience as a US Navy Missile Technician(SSBN)
- Ability to solve complex technical problems in a fast paced environment.

- Strong analytical abilities.
