Position:Senior Flight Test Engineer
Location: Fort Walton Beach / Eglin AFB, Florida - Hybrid
Position Description:
DZYNE Technologies is building a highly skilled team that thrives in the design, development, test and manufacturing of intelligent, autonomous vehicles. The candidate will work in a vehicle development and manufacturing environment where projects are realized with the highest degree of commitment to quality and efficiency.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized self-starter who has direct, hands-on experience planning and executing Flight Tests as well as leading Flight Test teams. The candidate must have solid technical abilities to analyze technical data and make decisions that are critical to the development and transition of products from concept to operational fielding. The candidate must have strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, aircrew, and maintenance personnel, as well as be the forward-facing test team representative to the program’s government sponsor.
Required Skills:
  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to communicate across technical and non-technical disciplines
  • Must have a strong technical background, ability to read and interpret engineering design artifacts, and customer requirements
  • Familiarity with DoD specifications and military standards related to Flight Test such as MIL-HDBK-516, MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1787, and MIL-STD-1797
  • Ability to write and communicate clear and precise guidelines for other test team members to follow in order to ensure test program success
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Must be a self-driven creative problem solver
Responsibilities:
  • Act as test portfolio lead for one of DZYNE’s major product lines – coordinating all activities related to the Flight Test planning and execution for the United States government sponsor
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of DZYNE’s Flight Test best practices, as well as strategies for implementation
  • Provide technical oversight in developing Flight Test objectives, equipment, and test assets, skills/resources, and planning T&E budgets and schedules.
  • Review and author test and safety plans for a variety of programs and customers
  • Assist in standardizing Flight Test planning products, and act as a mentor for new Flight Test Engineers
  • Be current and proficient as a test director or test conductor for Flight Test events
  • Follow specific tool control, FOD control, and safety guidelines and policies
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervision and management for the benefit of the company, program, or employee(s)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
  • Graduate of an internationally-recognized test pilot school
  • Familiarity with civil aircraft certification requirements such as FAA AC23-8C for Flight Test
  • Data analysis experience using Matlab, Python, or similar
  • Experience in aviation as a private pilot or remote pilot (Part 107)
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or other related technical field such as Mathematics or Physics) required; Master of Science desired
  • Ten years of experience in developmental or experimental Flight Testing as a Flight Test Engineer or Test Pilot
  • Five years of experience in a test leadership position
  • Five years of experience working with United States Government sponsored programs, and familiarity with DCMA and DoD policies, regulations, and processes
Clearance Level Required: Security Clearance Not Required (Secret Preferred)
Travel: Up to 15%
Working Conditions:
  • The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, such as a general office environment or warehouse.
  • Work performed may be in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this position, may regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate work.
  • May be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
  • Ability to travel to remote and sometimes austere locations for Flight Test activities
Salary
Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
