Job Description
EPC Power is looking to add a mechanical engineer to our engineering team. In this role you will work closely with experienced engineers on a variety of activities including cabinet wiring design and diagrams, inverter and component testing, and manufacturing support. After training and becoming familiar with EPC products, you will be an integral part of the engineering team. You will be responsible for wiring diagrams and similar engineering documentation for current and new products. You will have opportunities to contribute to new product design, customer requests, lab testing, PCB development and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Develop & execute test procedures to test mechanical/electrical components.
- Select proper wire size and components based on ampacity and voltage requirements.
- Extensive thermal testing of product, including cooling systems (air/liquid), inverter components.
- Product/component life cycle testing.
- Troubleshoot/root cause mechanical failures in production/RMA equipment.
- Develop, coordinate, and participate in board and equipment functional testing, wiring checkout, FAT, and end of line testing.
- Troubleshoot system mechanical issues as needed.
- Participate in design development and validation activities.
- Participate in documentation for manuals, processes, ECOs, and procedures.
- Support production and customers on an as-needed basis, both directly and through our customer support team.
- HALT & life cycle testing on current/new products.
- Document test results & prepare reports .
- Occasional travel may be required (<10%).
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical field
- 3+ years experience related to job responsibilities
- Solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of cooling systems
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits preferred
- Experience with thermal testing lab equipment
- Experience with typical commercial and industrial electrical power (480Vac, 3p)
- Interested in power electronics
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well within a team and clearly communicate technical progress and challenges
Desired Skills
- Experience with thermal testing
- Experienced with typical commercial and industrial cabinet wiring, documentation, wiring harnesses
- Soldering and PCB rework skills
- Knowledgeable in PCB schematic capture, layout, manufacturing, testing
- Hands on lab skills, prototyping, testing, cable harness fabrication, lab testing
- Familiar with typical lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering stations, signal generators, DAQ
